This is a letter that you are welcome to copy/paste and share to send to the various levels of local government as we prepare for meetings in September at the UBCM. Please note one of our own local Whistler Councillors is the current President of the Union of BC Municipalities. This is a vital part of convincing Minister Farnsworth with the need for change in the corridor.

The author of this initiative was recently in a meeting with representatives of West Vancouver, and Squamish regarding a petition and initiative we have to update the infrastructure and safety along the Sea to Sky Corridor.
It has been mentioned you might be the person to discuss supporting this initiative, especially concerning the most recent multi hour shut downs along the highway and the impacts that it has on residents and businesses in the corridor.
There will be local representatives at the UBCM in September and meeting with Minister Farnsworth to discuss this. As we move closer to this meeting, it is vital that we can provide as much engagement from local governance, business, residents and media to support this. The prior initiative concerning just these actions were lost due to the start of the Pandemic, (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/how-average-speed-cameras-could-make-b-c-s-roads-safer-1.4520261 only to see the corridor become busier than ever. As it is one of only 2 ways for Lower Mainland residents to get out and explore, and a one way in and one way out corridor for residents, businesses etc, shut downs have a unique impact on all aspects of corridor life.

As we are pushing forward with various initiatives outlined in the petition (not just the Average Speed Camera system) the support of community leaders is appreciated. We are hoping to have at least one public forum/discussion prior to the UBCM and would love your support.
