Increase the price of the trip permits for trucks exceeding 164,000 pounds in Michigan

The Issue

Michigan has one of our nation's highest allowed weight limits for semi trucks at 164,000 lbs, while the federal limit, which most states use, is 80,000 lbs. This and the fact that it only costs $50-$100 for one or multiple oversized trips (those over 164,000 lbs) has been hurting our roads even more. The stress oversized vehicles cause on our roads has been a major cause for things like potholes worsening. Therefore, we need to raise the cost of the permits for oversized semi trucks for companies to combat potholes.
