Increase Staff and Improve Facilities at Lloydminster Hospital

The Issue

I'm a mother who experienced severe postpartum cardiac issues. I sat in Lloydminster Hospital's waiting room for hours, my blood pressure escalating and my vision blurring. Despite symptoms like high blood pressure, chest flutters, high heart rate, and obvious swelling in my legs, face, and eyelids, I waited for four hours before I was taken in. The initial discernment of my severe cardiac condition was missed entirely, almost leading to a dangerous discharge. Only a shift change leading to a new doctor recognizing my signs saved me.

I share my experience not for sympathy but to showcase a problem. Our hospital in Lloydminster is understaffed and underfunded. As patient numbers grow, without corresponding growth in resources, preventable missteps and misdiagnoses like mine will only increase.

Lloydminster is one of the unique health regions that fall under both Saskatchewan and Alberta. It's a community that deserves better healthcare and robustly equipped medical institutions. Its strategic position can be used as an advantage to garner support and funds from both Saskatchewan and Alberta Health Regions.

We urge both Health Regions to increase funding and expand the hospital in Lloydminster. Greater funding would facilitate hiring more staff to offer timely, accurate medical attention, reducing waiting time and improving service quality. We are not just asking for more resources; we are demanding better healthcare standards for our community.

Support our cause by signing this petition. Advocate for improved care at Lloydminster hospital, because no one should have to risk their health due to systemic negligence and oversight. Let's ask for change, and let's demand better for Lloydminster.
