My dog was tragically hit and killed by a car that chose to do the unthinkable: ignore a stop sign. This is not just about my loss; our area has seen far too many close calls with cars disregarding these signs, endangering the lives of our neighbors and especially our children, who frequently cross these streets to get to and from each others houses. 

Ignoring stop signs is not just a minor traffic violation; it is a serious and potentially life-threatening disregard for public safety. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), running stop signs was responsible for about 70% of crashes at stop sign-controlled intersections in 2019.

In order to prevent more tragedies from occurring, I am requesting an increased police presence in our neighborhood to strictly enforce traffic laws, especially at stop signs. Our community deserves to feel safe as we walk our pets, as our friends jog in the early morning, and as our children make the precious journey to their places of learning.
