The issue

Navigating West Terrace to access local shops is a daily challenge that compromises the safety of many residents, especially the elderly, children and those with disabilities.

As a disabled person, I would like to walk to the shops on my own, but am frightened to cross West Terrace. The speed of the cars and trucks, combined with the blind corner of the roundabout, makes it near impossible for me to cross without assistance.

It is very worrying to think that a simple trip to the shops could result in an accident that might have been easily prevented with proper safety measures.

Installing pedestrian refuge islands and/or marked zebra crossings would significantly reduce the risk of accidents, providing safe points for crossing and making West Terrace a far safer place for everyone.

The department of Transport and Infrastructure along with the support of our Local government has a responsibility to ensure the safety of their communities, and making these essential improvements to pedestrian infrastructure should be a priority. By supporting this petition, you are urging the relevant authorities to take immediate action to enhance the safety of West Terrace and to protect everyone who uses this important route.

Please sign this petition to call for crucial safety improvements on West Terrace. Together, we can push for changes that will make our community safer and more accessible for all residents.
