As a 7th grader at Farmwell Station Middle School, I find that our current outdoor time of only 12 minutes is insufficient for socializing and relaxation. It’s frustrating to see other schools in Loudoun County enjoying longer breaks. Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics highlights the positive impact of outdoor activity on students’ mental health and academic performance. By extending our outside time to a minimum of 15 minutes, we can create a more equitable and balanced school day that prioritizes well-being and enhances learning outcomes. I urge you to sign this petition in support of increasing our outdoor time to foster a healthier and more productive school environment.
