ODSP increased but we’re still struggling

Hi everyone,

Last month, the Ford government’s 5% increase to ODSP payments came into effect. The increase was celebrated by the government as the largest in a decade. In reality, this increase will amount to a mere $58 more per month.

Celebrating $58 extra per month, while inflation and cost of living continue to skyrocket, feels like a slap in the face to people on ODSP.

People on ODSP are struggling to survive. We are falling further and further below the poverty line — increased rent and grocery costs mean that thousands across Ontario are unable to afford basic necessities like food and shelter. We are hearing more and more stories of people on ODSP who are struggling to survive, like Amir Farsoud, an ODSP recipient who will soon be homeless, who is now pursuing MAiD (medical assistance in dying). You can learn more about Amir’s story in this CityNews article.

Doug Ford needs to take meaningful action to solve this crisis — and his government can afford to do it.

Please continue signing and sharing this petition with your friends and family so we can keep the pressure on Doug Ford to meaningfully increase ODSP rates.

Thank you for your support,

Serene
