Currently, in Park Central Lifestyle Residences, residents are issued merely 6 tokens, which has proven to be inadequate for covering the washing of essential items like clothes and blankets. This limitation puts many of us, including myself, in difficult positions where making choices, such as deciding between washing a blanket or other necessities, becomes a recurring challenge.

In our residences, tokens are a lifeline for maintaining basic hygiene and well-being. The current allocation of just 6 tokens is insufficient. With each token representing a fundamental necessity such as bedding or clothes, not having adequate allocations results in unmet needs and a struggle for dignity and health.

Other Park Central Lifestyle Residences operate differently. There, residents have a system where clothes are washed collectively by designated staff, with each person having to give staff 3 times per month. While this system is structured differently, it effectively provides the same service but highlights how insufficient token allocations in our residences limit residents’ ability to meet basic needs independently.

We propose an increase in the token allocation to 10 tokens monthly for all residents of Park Central lifestyle including those with different system, a measure that would more accurately reflect and meet our basic needs. This request is not a luxury but a necessity for those who rely on these allocations for essential day-to-day living conditions.

With additional tokens, individuals would not have to make hard choices about which essential needs to meet and which to forgo. Raising the monthly allotment to 10 tokens can notably elevate the quality of life for countless student residents in Park Central, ensuring that fundamental needs are no longer compromised.
