Increase Government Funding for the Arts

Increase Government Funding for the Arts
The issue
The music industry is in crisis.
Venues are closing, festivals are getting cancelled and musicians are losing hope of ever making their craft a feasible career.
As Splendour in the Grass becomes yet another Australian festival to be cancelled this year, musicians and music-lovers around the country are left to wonder: will there be any Australian music festivals left?
We can't ignore the financial pressures individuals are under due to the current cost of living crisis and musicians are no exception to this. As a musician myself, every loss to the music industry is a blow to my career. And it hurts.
I am calling on Tony Burke, the Labor Minister for Arts to increase funding to the arts sector, with particular focus on music festivals and venues that provide so much to our communities.
The arts are not just about entertainment; they play a crucial role in our society by fostering creativity and innovation while contributing significantly to our economy.
The arts contributes to a thriving culture where creativity is not just appreciated, but deemed essential to any community.
It's time our government recognised the importance of the arts through increased financial support.
We need the arts more than ever.
Join me in letting our government know where Australians stand.
