Increase CNA Wages for a Fair and Equitable Healthcare System!

The Issue

Since before the 2020 coronavirus pandemic the need for CNAs, certified nursing assistants has grown drastically. Many facilities are in desperate need of certified employees due to the high turnover rate, which continues to increase. Why is that, you may be wondering? Well the biggest reason is low wages and lack of respect in the work field. With low wages and the lack of respect it can affect numerous factors, that includes CNAs mental health and work performance.

Increasing CNA wages would help not only decreasing turnover rates but also increase employment. Doing so would also show that CNAs are respected and heard. Without a change in wages and the lack of respect CNAs would continue to get, it would intentionally cause burnouts. A burnout takes a troll on ones mental and physical health, unable to meet work requirements because of low respect, involving high expectations, constructive criticism, and very little pay. Burn out can linger and be ongoing.

CNAs should be granted a raise in wages. An increase in wages would show respect, avoid burnouts, keep good work performance and eliminate the turnover rate. This can prevent short staff facilities and keep facilities from having to shut down. Change the wage, be heard, and act now!
