Important Update – Supportive Feedback from a Petitioner.
Last night, October 26, 2025, one of our petition signers shared valuable feedback with the petition starter in support of our initiative. She provided official information from the New Jersey Department of Education (NJ DOE) website about Integrating Jewish American Heritage Month (May) into K–12 Social Studies, and graciously allowed us to make it public.
A heartfelt thank you to Bazhena for this important contribution.
Please take a moment to read the feedback and share your thoughts by officially contacting the petition starter and the decision-makers: boardmembers@fairlawnschools.org and rdionisio@fairlawnschools.org, cc statebd@doe.nj.gov
Your voice matters in helping ensure this meaningful inclusion becomes a reality in our schools.
"Good afternoon all,
I am writing on behalf of myself, not as a Fair Lawn Board of Education candidate, but as a Jewish mother of three children in Fair Lawn Public Schools. I had to use my work email due to my personal GMAIL kept bouncing back.
I respectfully urge the Fair Lawn Board of Education to review and align our district’s Social Studies curriculum with the New Jersey Department of Education’s standards, specifically by formally incorporating Jewish American Heritage Month (May) into the K–12 Social Studies curriculum.

This initiative is not only an opportunity to celebrate the vital contributions of Jewish Americans but also a meaningful step toward addressing the ongoing concerns about antisemitism raised at previous BOE meetings. To date, these discussions have not resulted in concrete action. Our community needs to see that Fair Lawn stands by its commitment to inclusivity and education through genuine implementation, not just conversation.
I urge the Board and our Superintendent Dr. Rui Dionisio, to do what is right and comply with the NJDOE’s mandated curriculum for the benefit of all our students.
I strongly support the petition via change.org https://c.org/9WxvxPsNYD
I encourage everyone to read it and kindly answer our questions at the upcoming Fair Lawn Board of Education meeting.
Thank you for your attention and for serving our community. We appreciate your support and dedication to our children’s education. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback.
Sincerely,
Bazhena Tulchinskiy
Fair Lawn Resident & Jewish Mother of Three"
