Amber and Marshall Plan for Moms
May 2, 2017
I am a security officer at Amazon, and I have a beautiful baby daughter. I am asking Amazon to give workers like me access to paid parental leave - please sign and support my campaign: https://plus.nationbuilder.com/amazon_ayan Amazon is known for having a good parental leave policy (they give up to 20 weeks of paid time off to new moms). But I was back at work two weeks after I gave birth because I work for a subcontractor and the parental leave doesn't apply to me. I had to go back to work to support my child -- I knew that my healing process must come second. All new parents at Amazon deserve equal time to bond with their new babies. Will you join me in asking Amazon to make sure its subcontractors offer paid parental leave?https://plus.nationbuilder.com/amazon_ayan For me, the pressures were too much. I decided to leave my baby daughter with my mom in Somalia while I stay here working in the U.S. It was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make—to be separated from your child—especially when it’s first born. I miss her a lot. I am asking Amazon to be a leader and take responsibility for the working conditions of all the people who contribute to Amazon's success, including their contracted workforce. Sign my petition to tell Amazon that all the new parents under their roof should be treated equally. Every baby deserves the time to bond with her parents. https://plus.nationbuilder.com/amazon_ayan Thank you, -- Ayan, Amazon Security Officer
