Include St David's Cross in to the Union Flag of Great Britain

The Issue

As a proud member of the United Kingdom, and a passionate advocate for my heritage and identity, I find it fundamentally fair to request representation in the colours of the Union Kingdom, for which I am willing to defend and pay taxes towards. The St David's Cross, much like the people of Wales, has a unique and vibrant history. Despite its distinct colour scheme of black and yellow - unusually unorthodox, yet in its very difference, an embodiment of the Welsh spirit - this flag was largely unknown until the late 20th century. Its emergence into wider recognition coincided with growing consciousness and pride in our identity. Flying high on St David's Day, it has become a beacon of Welsh representation.

Including St David's Cross in the Union Flag, therefore, is not just about altering a fabric design. It is about ensuring that the roughly 3 million people in Wales, approximately 4.9% of the UK's total population (Source: Office for National Statistics), are visibly and symbolically included in the representation of a union that all its constituent parts contribute towards. It’s about equality. It’s about making sure that every part of this great Kingdom feels valued, seen, and heard. Stand with us in this call for inclusivity – sign this petition to include St David's Cross in the Union Flag.
