Include Edmontosaurus and Metriacanthosaurus in Jurassic Park Survival

The Issue

Just like you, I am a fan of dinosaurs and the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise. But it is disappointing that two underrated species, Edmontosaurus and Metriacanthosaurus, have been given the short end of the stick in the Jurassic franchise. The theropod Metriacanthosaurus, has only appeared as a DNA embryo in the first Jurassic Park movie. The Edmontosaurus didn't fare much better, only appearing as a skull in The Lost World Jurassic Park in the T-rex nest and as a skeleton at Lockwood Manor in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Both species did appear on the Jurassic World website to promote the first Jurassic World film. But both would meet the same fate as they fell back into extinction , which was confirmed by the marketing website (The Dinosaur Protection Group) for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom. Which disappointed many fans who wanted to see them in a Jurassic film.

It's unjust and really disappointing that these two species haven't been utilized in the film / tv material. Edmontosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur that lived in the Hell Creek Formation alongside the Triceratops and T rex. Metriacanthosaurus was a carnivorous dinosaur that lived in the Jurassic and was related to first dinosaur ever named the Megalosaurus. Their absence from being in a film installment of this famous franchise is a missed opportunity to get them more well known to people who do not know about them.

However , the Edmontosaurus did appear on a poster inside Darius' room in the first episode of the first season of Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous. Moreover, both species have also been physically absent in the Netflix series Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World Chaos Theory. Which is a shame since they would've been great additions in the series. However, a dinosaur related to Metriacanthosaurus did appear in Jurassic World Chaos Theory Season One. This was the Altaspinax / Becklespinax.

In view of this, I believe that Saber Interactive and Universal should add both the Edmontosaurus and Metriacanthosaurus in the lineup of dinosaur species for the upcoming game Jurassic Park Survival. This inclusion will not only enrich the game's species roster with the film species. But will also finally give these two species a canon spotlight that isn't in a park builder / mobile game.

Since both species existed in the canon timeline during the events of the film. They could be brought into the game with a canon explanation being " They brought them from Isla Sorna before the incident happened , the tour didn't get to see them because of the storm ". The game will feature the species from the first movie which are Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, Triceratops, Gallimimus, Brachiosaurus, and Parasaurolophus.

Another thing that would also be great is having the Stan Winston models be used for the game as opposed to the Jurassic World models (as seen in the trailer for the game and in the concept art ). With the game being delayed until 2025 or 2026. This gives more than enough time for them to use the film accurate models ( and use the Frontier models for the Edmontosaurus and Metriacanthosaurus but tweak them to fit the "Jurassic Park design ").

It is something very minor to just change the models to be accurate. But to some people it matters a lot to them. Which would be fine if it doesn't happen. But would make the game even better.

Something that should be done in the game is a fight between two of the most iconic dinosaurs , The Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Triceratops. This has been something many have wanted since 1993 from the franchise but hasn't been done. Except for Telltale Game's Jurassic Park the video game from 2011. But since that game isn't considered canon , it can be redone in this upcoming video game. This fight was one that actually happened and fossil evidence that proved it.  One of the fossils is called the Montana Dueling Dinosaurs . Which featured juvenile versions of the iconic dinosaurs fighting. It would also be great to see since many fans including myself are tired of the T rex fighting a therapod again and again in the series. This would be something new. But the fight shouldn't happen offscreen or have the T Rex automatically win. Make the the Triceratops put up a good fight.

Let's all work together to get these two dino species into the game roster, use film accurate dinosaur models, and have a T rex vs Triceratops fight. Please, sign the petition to voice our collective demand for these dinosaurs in Jurassic Park Survival game.
