Include Acrobatic Gymnastics in the Olympics

The Issue

My journey in the world of acrobatic gymnastics has been a wonderful one, filled with determination and camaraderie. However, we acrobatic gymnasts often feel a sense of disappointment. Why is acrobatic gymnastics, a sport that challenges both the spirit and the body, not included in the Olympic Games?

Acrobatic Gymnastics is a dynamic and thrilling sport that combines the strength and flexibility of gymnastics with the grace of dance. It demands a high level of discipline, teamwork, and physical prowess, all qualities celebrated in Olympic sports. Despite these characteristics, this much-loved sport, practiced by many around the globe, is yet to be recognized in the grandest sports stage - the Olympics.

Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) recognizes Acrobatic Gymnastics as a discipline of gymnastics, yet its lack of presence in the Olympic Games says otherwise. The inclusion of Acrobatic Gymnastics in the Olympics not only offers an equal platform for acrobatic gymnasts but also brings diversity and wider engagement to the Games, which already hosts a variety of gymnastic disciplines.

From enthusiastic beginners to devoted professionals, acrobatic gymnasts work tirelessly, manifesting their dedication and passion into breathtaking performances worthy of the global platform that is the Olympic Games.

To recognize Acrobatic Gymnastics as an Olympic sport is to acknowledge the skill, dedication, and spirit of athletes like myself and countless others. It's time that our efforts are recognized on a global stage. I urge the International Olympic Committee to consider the inclusion of Acrobatic Gymnastics in future Games. Make the dream of many gymnasts (who train 20 hours a week for this!!) come true. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
