Include 50-Meter Stroke Events in the Olympic Games

Include 50-Meter Stroke Events in the Olympic Games
The Issue
I've been a part of a sprint revolution in swimming, pushing boundaries and challenging norms. It's time to bring this revolution to the world stage - the Olympic Games. Currently, the shortest individual stroke events in swimming at the Olympics are 100 meters. However, there is a growing community of swimmers who specialize and excel in 50-meter stroke events (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke)
Incorporating these shorter distance races into the Olympics would not only diversify competition but also provide an opportunity for more athletes to participate. According to World Aquatics, more than 30% of all competitive swimming races are now sprints (50m) (source: World Aquatics). This shows that there is significant interest and participation at this distance.
Adding these events would also align with other sports that have multiple distances for their competitions such as athletics which has sprints from 100m up to marathon distances.
It's time for our voices to be heard on this important issue. We urge the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and World Aquatics, as governing bodies responsible for setting rules and regulations of aquatic sports at international level, to include 50-meter stroke events in future Olympic Games.
Please sign this petition if you believe in diversity within sport and want to see more opportunities for athletes worldwide!
