I am writing regarding baby Jon Rodger who passed away as a full term baby on Feb 18 of 2022.  He was a full term baby who had a cord accident just before he was born.  In most states the family can request a birth certificate which would entailed them to 1 year of claiming their child for tax purposes to help offset the medical and funeral costs associated with this painful event.  In this case the family attaches a birth and death certificate to their tax return and writes “deceased” for the social security number and at least gets that help.

However, in a small handful of states they instead issue a fetal demise certificate which does not count for the purposes of this relief.  I would like to get the  Savannah Hope Federal Stillborn Tax Credit act which would allow parents to take the child tax credit for one year just as they would have if they had gotten birth certificates to the House floor and passed into law.  Families need all the help they can get in these tragic circumstances.
