We, the nurses, personal support workers (PSWs), and other dedicated caregivers who are employees of Bayshore Home Health Care Solutions and members of OPSEU/SEFPO Local 745, are committed to providing quality care for you and your loved ones in Thunder Bay. However, we are currently engaged in a critical fight for a fair contract that recognizes the vital work we do.

As the largest home care provider in Thunder Bay, Bayshore is a multi-billion dollar private company that receives significant government funding to deliver essential nursing and home support services. Despite reportedly generating substantial revenue per employee – $387,000 – we, the frontline caregivers, have not seen a significant raise in over a decade.

This disparity contributes to a growing crisis in home care, marked by thousands of missed home visits annually due to severe staffing shortages. Shockingly, Bayshore continues to receive payment for these unrendered services, while those who rely on this care are left without the support they need. Furthermore, the nurses and caregivers employed by Bayshore earn significantly less – $10-$20 per hour less – than their counterparts in hospitals, often without the security of pensions or adequate benefits.

We believe that those who provide essential healthcare in our community deserve fair wages, decent benefits, and working conditions that allow us to deliver the quality care you expect and deserve. Therefore, we urge you to support our efforts to achieve a fair contract with Bayshore.
