Respected Sir,

We, the citizens of Pune, wish to draw your attention to the need for better train services between Pune and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala. There over 5 lakh Keralites residing in Pune, and a significant number of travelers during marriages, festivals, holidays, pilgrimage seasons, medical emergencies, funerals, tourists etc . The current train services to Kerala  are time consuming, painful and inadequate.

Pune to Kerala Train Key Problems :

Very Long Travel Duration: The Kanyakumari Express, which connects Pune to Trivandrum, takes a staggering 33 hours, and this travel time has remained unchanged for over many decades.

Pune Citizens Request  the following:
1)Make Pune-Ernakulam Superfast (PES) Train, a Daily Service: The PES takes 24 hours to reach Ernakulam. Considering shorter duration and the high demand for this train, this train should be converted to a daily service.
2)Extension of Pune-Ernakulam Superfast Train to Trivandrum: Extending this service to Trivandrum would greatly benefit passengers traveling to southern Kerala.
3) Make Poorna Express a Daily Service
4)Reduce the time for Kanyakumari Express
5)Make Khadki Railway Station the Main station for Kerala and South Bound Trains from Pune.

6)Introduction of a Duronto Train: A new Duronto Express from Pune to Trivandrum, with a travel time of less than 15 hours, would drastically improve connectivity and serve as a faster alternative.
7)Introduction of a Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: A Vande Bharat Express from Pune to Trivandrum, with a travel time of less than 15 hours.

Supporting Passenger Data and Pain Points:
1. During the Sabarimala pilgrimage thousands of Swami Ayyappa devotees travel from Pune to Kerala. 
2. Festivals like Onam, Vishu, Diwali, Christmas, Easter and Eid see a significant surge in passenger numbers and non availablilty of reserved seats. 
3. Kerala is a popular destination for tourism, with many Pune citizens traveling for leisure and family visits.
4. Emergency Travel to Kerala: Many citizens have to travel to kerala for emergency, Medical treatment, funeral, Senior Citizens care etc.

Improving these train services will not only cater to the needs of a large and vibrant population but also strengthen the economic and cultural ties between Pune and Kerala.

We request you to prioritize this issue and take the necessary steps to address the travel woes of lakhs malayali passengers. Your intervention will significantly enhance connectivity and comfort for all travelers.
