Following a traffic accident on 2 September 2025, we highlight our ongoing safety concerns regarding both the Marmion Avenue / Pearl Parade (northbound) and Marmion Avenue / Elliott Road (northbound) intersections.

Neither intersection has traffic lights or a roundabout. Road markings are worn.

These intersections are used extensively by families travelling to local schools including St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School, Karrinyup. The only secure intersection available to commuting families is Jeanes Road / Karrinyup Road - a detour of over 3 kilometres - which can be heavily congested at peak times.

In addition, the intersection of Marmion Av / Elliott Road is located at an almost perfect East-West angle, which leaves drivers blinded by sun glare at peak traffic times.

These are dangerous intersections for road users that should be made safer, especially with schools nearby.

We urge your office to conduct an investigation into accident statistics and road safety measures available to prevent further accidents (such as the installation of a roundabout or a set of traffic lights) at these local traffic blackspots.
