Hello there, advocates! We’re checking with a big update and a new call to action for you.

Last week, ButcherBox hosted its first-ever Congressional briefing on Capitol Hill, “Ruffling feathers for school meals: Why antibiotics should never be on the menu.”

A quick bit of context on how we got here: Over the past few months, ButcherBox and our coalition partners have been meeting with folks at the White House, HHS, USDA, and in Congress to figure out what it will take to get antibiotics out of the proteins in school meals. The feedback was that USDA is open to it, but it needs a nudge to make it a priority.

We also learned that chicken is the best place to start since it’s the protein schools buy most, and it’s the one where No Antibiotics Ever (NAE) options are ready to scale today.

Because of this, we’re urging Congress to push USDA to add NAE chicken to the list of foods schools can buy with their federal meal dollars. And we need your help!

Use this action tool to send a letter to your representatives, encouraging them to reach out USDA. It will take under two minutes, but its importance truly cannot be understated. We appreciate you!
