Show your support for the Better Idea by emailing Pinehurst Village Council members John Taylor at jtaylor@vopnc.org and Jeramy Hooper at jhooper@vopnc.org.  And please send this to anyone else who is concerned.  Here's why:

Mr. Taylor and Mr. Hooper will meet with NCDOT officials this week to propose a Better Idea for the Pinehurst Circle.  Designated by the Council, these gentlemen worked with local citizens to study alternatives to the "cut-through" design concept put forth by NCDOT because that concept raises significant concerns by the Village Council and the public over safety, efficiency, and aesthetics.  Mr. Taylor and Mr. Hooper returned with the Better Idea, which the Council decided (starting at the 1:51 mark) should be proposed to NCDOT.

Juxtaposed with the cut-through concept the Better Idea is a clear winner.

The Better Idea has no crossing intersections, meaning no T-bone crashes and no waiting for a green light.

The Better Idea features below grade lanes (in a trench) connecting NC 211 to 15/501 South which will significantly reduce traffic on the circle itself, thus improving efficiency.

The Better Idea should cost less and take less time to construct than the cut-through.

The Better Idea is more aesthetically pleasing than the cut-through.

The Better Idea actually improves the circle without destroying it!
