IMPROVE THE MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM-GET FUNDING TO IMPROVE THE SERVICES

The Issue

The UK has a high rate of mental health issues. One in four people will experience a mental health problem each year. It's essential to seek help when needed. But what happens when the support isn’t available or accessible ??

The UK mental health system is underfunded and overstretched. People are waiting too long for treatment, and the quality of care is poor. There is a lack of support for those with mental health issues, and it's not easily accessible to everyone who needs it. This can lead to people suffering in silence and not getting the help they need. The government needs to invest more money into the mental health system and make it a priority. There should be more resources available to those who need it, and it should be easier to access. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and it's time that the system reflects this.

Suicide is a serious issue in the UK. It's the leading cause of death for people under the age of 35. Men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women. There were over 5,000 suicides in the UK in 2022. We need to work together to reduce the number of suicides in the UK.

So I am asking for people to sign this petition so the government will take into consideration what I’ve said and what I’ve asked for !! here is a list of what we need and what this petition will help with if we have enough signatures and enough awareness

1.Mental health awareness needs to be taught to primary aged children, there needs to be more resources available for children and young people before it hits a crisis point, and starting this help and support young will lead to less people in crisis and less teens and adults struggling.

2. The services that we do have need funding because of the ever increasing number of people who are in need of help, but the services are so overwhelmed and highly in demand, so understaffed, and the wait times for some services can be over a year if not longer, this leads to people having difficulty getting support at the time they need it therefore leading to a bigger A&E admissions, higher crisis rates and unfortunately higher suicide rates, and this needs to change, there needs to be more accessible options, no waiting lists meaning when people take that brave step to ask for help they are receiving that help immediately.

3. In the UK especially we need more services for Men and young boys, the rate of suicide or attempted suicide by Males aged 21+ and young boys is through the roof, we need to show Men that we care, there is services for them and that there shouldn’t be any difference between them getting support than women and girls, but unfortunately at the moment there is a clear “society standard” that needs to be addressed and changed

4. there also needs to be more help and support for those who have got additional needs and need extra time or other means to communicate, just because someone may be unable to talk or communicate the way a lot of us can doesn’t mean they aren’t struggling and we should make mental health services more accessible and Disability friendly.

5. There needs to be proper and effective testing for mental health disorders not just oh you have this symptom so you have this or you don’t show this so it can’t be that, people are getting over diagnosed with things they don’t have, but more importantly people aren’t getting diagnosed meaning they aren’t getting the help and care that they need.
