As a resident of Alhambra and a passionate user of public transportation, I have personally experienced the challenges and inefficiencies of our current Alhambra Community Transit (ACT) system. Public transportation should be a reliable and easy tool for everyone, whether it's for daily commutes to work or leisurely exploration of our wonderful city. Unfortunately, the ACT system falls short, often causing frustration and inconvenience for its users.

The ACT is crucial for connecting our community, promoting economic development, and ensuring that everyone has access to the services and opportunities that Alhambra has to offer. Yet, persistent issues such as delays, limited routes, insufficient operation hours, and a lack of real-time updates have hindered its effectiveness. These problems don't just affect individual riders; they also discourage potential users from adopting public transit, ultimately harming our city's appeal and accessibility.

Data from public transport research highlights that improved public transit systems can significantly reduce traffic congestion, lower carbon emissions, and boost the local economy by making it easier for people to reach local businesses. Cities with efficient public transportation also report higher levels of happiness among their residents, as they spend less time commuting and more time enjoying what their community has to offer.

To truly transform the ACT system for the better, we need concrete changes. This includes extending operation hours to accommodate early morning and late-night commuters, increasing the number of buses and their frequency on popular routes, and providing real-time tracking and updates through a mobile app to keep passengers informed. Additionally, maintaining buses to high standards of cleanliness and service will create a more enjoyable and safer experience for all riders.
