Every day, us students of Hommocks Middle School are left to defend ourselves against verbal harassment and line cutting in our school's lunch lines. Many peers, including myself, have become victims of name-calling and ridicule while just trying to get our meals. The drama that begins at these lunch lines often resonates throughout the day affecting our focus and learning. Not to mention that line cutting is one of the most common practices in the lunch line, which we all know actually benefits nobody. And the guards just watch, only breaking up big fights and paying attention to things that don’t really matter.

As Hommocks students, we- meaning all of us- are apparently supposed to be a “community” like the teachers tell us, but how can we do that when they turn a blind eye to people who literally don’t care?

By signing this petition, you're supporting the drive towards a safer and simpler lunchtime at HMX Middle School that maybe you can actually look forwards to this school year. I think that every student has a right to a peaceful and respectful environment, especially when having their meal - a basic need. Together we can make a change. Please sign my petition and help show them what they need to pay attention to (besides gum-chewing and phones, which are obviously derived from the underworld.)
