Improve Street Lighting & Pedestrian Crossings on North Point Blvd

The Issue

Many of us who live or work around North Point Blvd have personally experienced the danger that poor lighting 💡and inadequate pedestrian facilities pose to our community. It has come to the point where too many pedestrians have been hit, injured, or even tragically killed (RIP🙏🏼)This situation is fueled by insufficient street lighting, which makes visibility extremely challenging, and lack of pedestrian crossings, that forces people to dice with death‼️‼️‼️🚸🚦

Across the United States, approximately 6,000 pedestrians are killed in traffic crashes each year, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Many of these incidents result from inadequate street lighting and pedestrian facilities. Specifically, on North Point Blvd, the need for a solution has become personal and urgent. It is time for us to call for a major reassessment of this blvds infrastructure.

We, therefore, call for the local government and traffic authorities to review the situation at North Point Blvd (between edgemere and 695)urgently. Specifically, we request the introduction of bright street lights and pedestrian crosswalks that meet national guidelines for visibility and safety. Furthermore, considering the road's length and traffic congestion, the installation of an additional red light in between the existing ones could further help regulate traffic, hence increase safety for drivers and pedestrians alike.

🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
This is not an unreasonable demand. It is a request for measures that save lives, improve the community's safety, enhance the quality of neighbors' lives, and potentially reduce the demand on emergency services. Please take action now. Sign this petition to support better, safer streets in our neighborhood.
