Hi SM friends, the purpose of this petition is to draw attention to our school's lunch situation.

(DISCLAIMER: This petition is by no means trying to criticize or complain about our school or our staff's hard work, but simply trying to give some suggestions for improvement. Please forgive us if there are any words or language that make anyone feel uncomfortable)

Without any other lunch companies, Hanna's are currently our school's only lunch option. Please sign this if you are interested in improving our lunch -- your voice matters.

1. Currently, the only 2 options SM students have are our own campus store and Hannas. With the campus store only offering simple snacks and cup noodles, Hannas pretty much became the only option for us. Compare to last year, we had multiple companies supported by Fooda, as well as other food trucks, Starbucks, and Chick-fil-a. Our sophomores, juniors, and seniors pretty much universally prefer the lunch situation last year. According to partial statistics, there is also a significant decrease this year in the percentage of students who choose to buy lunch at school (much more people prefer to bring their own lunch this year).
2. What matters more to us, however, is the price -- something even our new freshman students noticed a change. The exact price of food Hanna's provide is shown in the picture below. Chicken tenders, for example, are listed as 6 dollars at the beginning of the school year, but now they charge 10 dollars (a 66% increase!) with neither improvement in quality nor quantity. The cup noodles they serve (they call it "ramen") are listed at 4 dollars, but they are actually only worth around 1 dollar in supermarkets like Costco.
3. After winter break, Hannas also stop accepting pre-ordering, which makes the lines significantly longer and increases students' waiting time -- many students have experienced situations where they spend 30 minutes waiting in line and have 10 minutes left to eat.

Students at SM would really like to see our school bring back the lunch situation last year. I know that there is another petition running right now, written by another SM student, but I feel that the situation deserves a more detailed description. This new petition is by no means trying to ignore the effort of that petition, and the only goal of this is to try to improve the quality of life for all SM students. With this petition, we kindly want our school to provide us with:

• more lunch options (with more than one company)
• cheaper and reasonable prices
• pre-orders opportunities in order to shorten students' waiting time
