Improve safety for pedestrians in the Bernards Heath community!

The Issue

Our community is well aware of the many stories of near misses and incidents involving pedestrians, cyclists and motorists while using the roads and crossings around Bernards Heath.

If you have any specific stories to share with us please comment below or contact us at: roadsafety@bernardsheath.herts.sch.uk

We are committed to making the routes to school safer for the children at the Bernards Heath Schools and improving general safety for pedestrians including local residents.

Please sign this petition to show your support and demonstrate the size and scale of the challenges we face. We will use this information to lobby the council to make positive change for our community.

From our initial survey at Bernards Heath Infant and Nursery School we have identified the following areas as a priority:

  • Safe crossing - drop kerbs that match up/islands that are wide enough to cross with a buggy or wheelchair and adaptations to Avenue Road so children and adults can cross safely.
  • Sandridge Road traffic calming with an aim of reducing the speed of vehicles.

With your support we will be able to take the number of signatures to the Local Council and to Hertfordshire Highways with the view of securing change. If you leave your email address we will be able to update you and include you in further consultation.

Many thanks for your support.
