On August 22, 2024, first day of High School @ NHV- yet another fatal accident occurred in our close-knit community of Franklin Township, an event that has sent shockwaves of grief and sorrow through our tight-knit community. An angelic 16-year-old young woman lost her life, on a direct route to NHHS with two other teenagers @24 hrs still in critical condition. Tragically, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred at the intersection of CR617 (Sidney Rd.), Hogback Rd., and Lower Landsdown Road. 

This dangerous intersection has been long known to the residents and the Municipal Committee of Franklin Township, and in the past, its deadly consequences have been appealed to the Hunterdon County Commissioners. Yet, no effective remedy has been provided. 

We cannot stand by as more lives are put at risk at this intersection. Too many beloved community members have already had their lives irrevocably marked by this four-way crossing.

In response to this dire situation, we, the residents of Franklin Township, supported by our Municipal Committee, urgently implore the Hunterdon County Commissioners to take immediate action to bring in the required experts to assess and improve the safety at this intersection. 

We petition not only in the name of reducing future incidents but also out of respect for those whose lives have been tragically affected by past accidents. The time for action is now. Please sign our petition to prevent further loss of life and devastation in our community.
