Improve NIBS Bus Service for Reliable Transportation

The Issue

For the past six years, I've relied on the 81 NIBS bus service to travel to school, experiencing this essential public service's advantages and, sadly, its numerous shortcomings. It has become particularly challenging to get this bus due to frequent cancellations and overcrowding.

The current issue of cancellations seems to have become the rule rather than the exception. Students, workers, and elders depend on this service for their daily functioning, and it's evident that the reliability of the NIBS bus service has significantly deteriorated.

In addition, overcrowding has turned the commute into an ordeal. Sometimes, we have had to resort to alternate commuting methods, necessary due to insufficient capacity to accommodate all the passengers. The fact that public transport cannot serve the public consistently is a significant concern and the refusal from the bus service to provide a double decker to routes that clearly need them is just not good enough.

These issues affect not only me, but any commuters who depend on the NIBS bus service. We all suffer because of the inefficiency, lack of capacity, and unreliability. As a society that values fairness and equality, we must insist on better.

We, therefore, call on those in charge of the NIBS bus service to take immediate action. This includes improving the bus timetable so all routes have more than 1 bus an hour, ensuring punctuality, and implementing effective measures to prevent overcrowding. These measures will improve the overall quality of the service to the numerous users who depend on it.
