Improve Elections in Gwinnett County

Improve Elections in Gwinnett County
The Issue
Gwinnett County is the only county in the Metro Atlanta area that does not offer municipal election services as an option for the cities within the county. That means even when there is already a countywide election occurring on the same date as a city elections, Gwinnett cities are not able to combine their elections with the county. As a result, residents of cities have to go to two places to vote or have to contact two different entities to request an absentee ballot, and cities spend taxpayer dollars holding separate elections.
Without action by the Board of Commissioners, this situation will occur on November 4, 2025 - every city in Gwinnett has city council elections on that date and the Gwinnett County Voter Registrations and Elections Office will be conducting the 2025 Public Service Commission election for all registered voters throughout the county and will be providing Advance In Person, Advance By Mail, and Election Day voting services at all of its polling places, including those used by citizens residing in Gwinnett's 17 cities.
The undersigned call on the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to offer Gwinnett's cities the option to outsource municipal elections to the county election department.
If you live in Gwinnett, sign this petition to ask the Board of Commissioners to:
- Permit Gwinnett cities to combine their 2025 municipal elections with the 2025 Public Service Commission (PSC) election that the county already has to provide on the exact same day.
- For elections after 2025, work with interested Gwinnett cities to develop a menu of municipal election services at a reasonable price.
