Safe Biking for Prince GeorgePrince George, BC, Kanada

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow (August 11) at Foodie Fridays and through an online survey starting on the same day the City of Prince George will be looking at feedback for a section of downtown. While this area may be small, it would be a great place to start implementing some more walkable and bikeable areas.

For some ideas as to where to provide feedback:

Pedestrianize George Street in front of City Hall (even down to Crossroads and area)

Start building more accessible, safe, heated indoor bike parking (in the Civic Centre or Library)

A strong focus on walkability

Make it easier to build mixed-use residential/commercial buildings through better zoning practices

Remove minimum parking requirements (“parking minimums”) for downtown areas at least. Let the developer or property owner choose how much parking is necessary

Let pedestrians and cyclists be the highest priority traffic downtown

If you have any more creative ideas, please be sure to mention them to the City at Foodie Fridays this Friday, August 11th. There will also be an online survey that will run for a few weeks starting on the same day.

Keep it up everyone!
