Improve benefits and insurance for all truck drivers ,TST🔥TRUCKERS STANDING TOGETHER
The Issue
Steven Gonzales was more than just a truck driver; he was a dedicated professional and a reliable owner-operator who unfortunately passed away while leasing to a company that failed to offer an affordable benefits plan at the time of his death. This is not an isolated case but rather a widespread issue that affects countless truck drivers across the United States. Drivers like Steven risk their lives daily, enduring long hours on the road in all types of weather conditions, from blizzards to rainstorms and extreme heat. They navigate congested urban traffic and remote rural areas, delivering essential goods to businesses and consumers. Yet, despite their invaluable service in an industry that generates billions of dollars, they are often left without adequate medical, life insurance, or other essential benefits.
The trucking industry is vital to the economy. Commercial trucks move roughly 72.5% of the nation's freight by weight, according to the American Trucking Associations. However, the individuals powering this massive sector are frequently overlooked when it comes to their health and safety. Truck drivers deserve comprehensive medical, life insurance, and benefits that reflect their contribution to both the economy and public life. It is both a matter of safety and dignity.
Current regulations under the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) should prioritize the well-being of drivers as much as they do the safety of vehicles on the road. Ensuring that drivers have access to affordable health and life insurance, as well as other benefits, not only protects them but also contributes to safer roads for everyone.
We propose that the government, in collaboration with trucking companies and industry stakeholders, develops a standardized, affordable benefits package for all truck drivers. This package should include comprehensive health and medical insurance, life insurance, and other necessary benefits that support their health and livelihoods. Additionally, we urge state and federal legislations to incentivize companies that provide these benefits, ensuring that they become a norm rather than an exception.
Join us in making a change. Sign this petition to ensure that truck drivers are treated with the respect they deserve and protected with the benefits they need.
