Hello D.C. students,

Our names are Helen Hrazanek, Christina Gutierrez, and Estella Elkis. We are currently students at The Catholic University of America. For our Environmental Policy class, we have been tasked with picking a topic to do local advocacy on. We have decided to speak out against the rapid expansion of AI data centers that is happening nearby, especially in Northern Virginia. 

We are advocating that the Virginia General Assembly pass SB 619 and HB 155, HB 897, and HB 658, all bills which would do more to control the impacts of data centers. If you are a student who is concerned about the impact that these centers could have on your local school community, we ask that you sign our petition. On your behalf, we will be sending letters to VA General Assembly members linking this petition and asking for their support of these bills. All you have to do is sign this petition and you're all set!

Virginia needs to be prioritizing clean energy alternatives that will not allow these large corporations to profit and regular citizens to bear the brunt of the cost in their energy bills, all while our environment as a whole suffers.
