Remember 5-7 years ago when the fake honey scandal blew up and everyone knew the big culprits? Capilano’s Allowrie, Aldi’s Bramwells, Coles & Woolies own-brand stuff – mainstream media named names and shelves got cleared. Fast forward to RIGHT NOW in 2025... another round of tests on supermarket honey (this time mostly cheap imports) just showed adulteration with syrups again. Beekeepers paid for German lab tests on 30 jars, several failed hard. But this time? Crickets from the big outlets. The industry council won’t name the brands ‘to avoid a witch hunt’. So we’re left guessing which jars are basically flavoured sugar water. 🤦♂ Support local beekeepers, read labels properly, and maybe stick to Aussie-made for now.
