Petition updateImported Honey to be banned ...Are Australian Honeybees Varroa resistant?

Wild honeybee colonies in Newcastle , Kempsey and the Cental Coast  NSW are thriving despite having high varroa mite counts .

Even in the previous redzones left to nature the wild colonies are so abundant they are throwing out healthy swarms.

Some beekeepers speculate our wild colonies are decedent from Russia and already have mite resistance. Others suggest we have a weak strain of varroa without the virus’s.

There is still not one documented hive loss of an Australian hive due to Varroa mite.

After over 100 million dollars killing bees the @nswdpi have  conceded that varroa was here a lot longer and farther reaching than they let the public know but are yet to apologise for all the  traumatic errors that saw billions of bees killed and much of nsw contaminated with fiprinol.

Australia is still at risk of importing viruses that accompany varroa like deformed wing virus. So we still need to be vigilant not to import viruses through the importation on queenbees or drone sperm.

Listen to experts discuss the varroa debacle below.
