I missed the opportunity to play Fortnite during its early days due to poor internet conditions. Now many others continuously experience fear of missing out (FOMO) coupled with regret over missing out on the exclusive collaboration skins and cosmetics that were only available in previous season battle passes.

Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, periodically releases battle passes which allow players to earn exclusive skins and cosmetics. Notably, they have implemented collaboration-based skins, tying in popular cultural icons into their virtual world. However, these collaboration identities are often gated behind their respective seasons' battle passes, leaving players who missed those seasons without any alternative to acquire these characters from their favorite fandoms. 

Fortnite boasts over 350 million registered players worldwide, according to a May 2020 update from Epic Games itself. Ideally, each of these players should have the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of the game, regardless of when they started playing. Locking unique cosmetics behind time-limited windows promotes exclusivity at the expense of inclusivity and player satisfaction.

We urge Epic Games to reintroduce these exclusive collaborations for everyone's enjoyment. Availability of these cosmetics should not be a privilege for the early players but should be a right for everyone who loves and enjoys this game. Stand with us in leveling the playing field.
