My bins are overflowing and sometimes being missed. This is a problem that I, like many others in Enfield, face on a regular basis. The current fortnightly collection schedule is simply not sufficient to manage the waste produced by our households.

According to data from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), each person in the UK generates approximately 409 kg of waste per year. With an estimated population of 333,869 people in Enfield (as per Office for National Statistics), this equates to over 136 million kg of waste annually.

The current bin collection system struggles to efficiently manage this volume of waste leading to overflowing bins and missed collections. This not only creates an unsightly environment but also poses potential health risks due to vermin attraction.

By implementing weekly bin collections, we can ensure that all residents have their rubbish removed regularly and efficiently. This will improve cleanliness within our community while also reducing potential health hazards associated with uncollected trash.
