Implement traffic control speed bumps on Dawlish Drive, Leigh-on-Sea
The Issue
My name is Warren Russell, and I am a resident of Dawlish Drive, Leigh-on-Sea. Over the past few years, we've witnessed a unusually high number of car accidents on our street—most of which involve residents' parked cars being hit by drivers speeding through our neighbourhood, and on the most recent incident, significant damage to a resident's property.
Dawlish Drive is a residential road home to families, children playing, and elderly people. It should be a safe haven, but reckless drivers treat it like a race track, endangering lives and properties, not to mention the Car Insurance premiums of the innocent residents.
Statistics indicate that roads with speed control measures see a significant decrease in accidents. According to a study conducted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, introducing speed bumps can reduce speeding by up to 40% and accidents by up to 60%. Speed bumps are proven to effectively force drivers to slow down, thus significantly reducing the likelihood of accidents and giving residents peace of mind. Not only will this measure protect our vehicles and property, but more importantly, it will safeguard our loved ones from potential harm.
We urge the local council to take immediate action and approve the installation of speed bumps along Dawlish Drive. Let's prevent more accidents from occurring, protect our community, and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
Please show your support and help us bring about change by signing this petition. Together, we can make a difference.
