Ten years ago, I had the privilege of visiting an Assamese district with my parents. We admired its rich culture and unique heritage, and it served as a beautiful reflection of India's diversity. Recently, I revisited, only to be confronted with an altered reality—an unexpected demographic shift that transformed the area into a predominantly Miya Muslim district.

This drastic change deeply concerns me, not for the differences in culture, but for the apparent implications of illegal immigration. This fear is not unfounded. The influx of unregistered immigrants has raised serious national security issues in many countries, including ours. It's a known fact that uncontrolled and undocumented immigration can pose potential threats to a country's sovereignty, security, and demographic structure (source: "Illegal Immigration: A Major national Security Issue," Journal of Borderland Studies).

The purpose of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is primarily to identify illegal immigrants and ensure the welfare benefits are distributed to legitimate citizens only. Swift and nationwide implementation of the NRC is necessary to address this urgent issue. We call upon the Ministry of Home Affairs to implement the NRC across the nation and provide our unique cultural heritage the protection it deserves.
