Implement the Advanced STEM Projects Class at Redmond High School

Implement the Advanced STEM Projects Class at Redmond High School
The Issue
What is the course?
The Advanced STEM Projects class is an exciting semester-long class where students apply everything they learned in Introduction to Engineering and Principles of Engineering in an open-ended capstone project of their choice. The course used to be taught by Ms. Lawson, but likely won't be offered next year-- BUT SIGNING THIS PETITION MAY CHANGE THAT!
Why does this matter?
I am a student at Redmond High School with a passion for engineering. After completing the Principles of Engineering course, I was eager to continue my learning journey with the Advanced STEM Projects class. However, this course is currently not offered in our school.
The Advanced STEM Projects class, taught by Ms. Lawson, is designed to be a follow-up to the Principles of Engineering course. It provides students with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of engineering principles that are crucial for those who aspire to pursue careers in this field.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in occupations related to STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics—is projected to grow about 8% from 2019 to 2029 (source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). This growth outpaces that for all other occupations and highlights the importance of providing comprehensive STEM education in our schools.
By offering this advanced class at Redmond High School we can ensure that students like me have access to an enriching curriculum that prepares us for future career opportunities in engineering and other related fields.
I urge you - parents, teachers, administrators - let's work together towards implementing the Advanced STEM Projects class at Redmond High School so we can provide our students with an education that equips them for success in today's fast-paced technological world.
Please sign this petition if you support expanding our school's curriculum by offering more advanced courses such as Ms. Lawson’s Advanced Stem Projects Class.
