Like many of you, I have a younger sibling who is just starting to explore the vast world of the internet. Each time he logs onto game platforms like Roblox or video platforms like YouTube, my heart beats with worry. The current online landscape is a wild frontier, where it is all too easy for innocent children to stumble upon content that is inappropriate for their age, or worse, be exploited by malicious users. It is not just about my younger brother, it is about every minor who should be able to navigate the digital world safely.

Every day, millions of children log onto these platforms under the impression of safety. Yet, within a few clicks, they can be exposed to violent, explicit, or dangerous content, often despite adhering to parental rules. This is an unbearable reality our children are forced to navigate, and it must change.

We demand that major platforms like Roblox and YouTube:

1. Require rigid, accurate age verification for all users under 18.
2. Automatically block explicit content and hazardous links for all minor users.
3. Publicize safety and content removal reports, so that parents and communities are informed about what is happening within these platforms.

Adding to this alarming issue, a recent report by Internet Matters revealed that 74% of parents feel that their child's online activity has increased during lockdown, highlighting the pressing need for an immediate solution.

We must evoke change for a safer online environment for our children. I don't just want this for my brother; I want it for every child who deserves to be safe online. We owe them that much.
