Implement Stronger Laws Against Parental Alienation and Promote Co-Parenting

The Issue

I am a mother of an 11-month-old daughter, currently separated from her by an act of parental alienation. Her father refuses to share her with me. Just because he had her at a certain time, there is nothing I can do to make him return her to me. This scenario is painfully common and unacceptable, impacting families across the nation. According to the Children's Rights Council, approximately 5 million children a year are affected by parental alienation, with one parent being unjustly kept away.

Parental alienation inflicts mental and emotional harm not only on the alienated parents but also affects the child's well-being. As per the American Psychological Association, children exposed to parental alienation suffer long-term effects, including depression, low self-esteem, drug abuse, and more relational problems.

It's time for stronger laws that address parental alienation and promote the importance of co-parenting. We urgently need regulations preventing a parent from refusing the other parent any type of contact whatsoever without a valid, court-approved reason.

By signing this petition, you are supporting a just and balanced system that upholds the child's best interest above petty disputes and personal grievances, a system that recognizes the rights of each parent, and pushes for equal involvement in the child's life. Your signature serves as a call for legislative change to end parental alienation and foster a healthy co-parenting environment. Please, sign the petition for a better future for separated parents and their children.
