Implement Strict Inspection Protocols in New Jersey Pet Stores and Animal Shelters

Implement Strict Inspection Protocols in New Jersey Pet Stores and Animal Shelters
The Issue
For many years, I have been collaborating with animal welfare advocates, tirelessly working to ensure that the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) adheres to and enforces the statutes related to pet stores and animal shelters. Yet, here we are today, still fighting for the same cause. This National Puppy Day brings into sharp focus the urgent need for proper inspections at pet stores and animal shelters across our state.
The lack of thorough inspections puts both our furry friends and us at risk. It perpetuates a vicious cycle and an influx of animals in shelters. The absence of strict protocols also increases the risk of zoonotic diseases spreading within our communities.
We urge NJDOH to prioritize thorough training for all municipal inspectors and enforce strict inspection protocols within these facilities. By doing so, we can safeguard against disease spread and ensure better living conditions for animals under human care.
This petition is not just about improving conditions; it's about creating a safer environment for everyone involved - humans included! Let's work together towards making New Jersey safer by ensuring the regulations already in place at pet stores and animal shelters across our state. Please sign this petition today!
