Atlantis Dr of Orillia, ON - Westridge, our street has turned into a raceway for drivers who disregard the safety of our children, elderly residents, and families. As many residents may have noticed, the traffic along this road can be busy, leading to hazardous conditions for pedestrians and drivers.

To enhance safety measures in our neighbourhood, I am seeking support for a petition advocating for installing speed bumps/speed cameras or any speed deterrent on Atlantis Dr. 

Our neighborhood is home to children, seniors, dog walkers, and families. A local school located on this street sees many kids walking and biking to it daily. However, speeding drivers threaten the safety of our loved ones every day. Existing measures have shown to be inadequate in reducing these reckless behaviours. Each car that speeds by carries the risk of a potential tragedy waiting to occur.

Implementing speed bumps and or/ speeding cameras could ensure the safety and well-being of our community members by serving as a much-needed deterrent for speeding vehicles. They are a proven, cost-effective way to manage speed in residential areas where vulnerable groups, like children and seniors, are at risk.

This call for action requests that the City of Orillia prioritize the safety of its residents by installing speed bumps/cameras or any sort of speed deterrent in our neighbourhoods. By taking this step, we will better protect the children and families in our neighbourhood and preserve the peaceful environment we all cherish.
