Implement Sarah's Law in, Isle of Man

Implement Sarah's Law in, Isle of Man
The Issue
I am a resident of Douglas, Isle of Man and this issue is deeply personal to me. I believe that the safety and protection of our children should be our utmost priority. It is for this reason that I urge the local government to implement Sarah's Law.
Sarah's Law, formally known as the Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme in England and Wales, allows parents, carers or guardians to formally ask the police to tell them if someone has a record for child sexual offences. This law was introduced after eight-year-old Sarah Payne was murdered by a convicted paedophile.
Currently, we do not have such provisions in place here in which leaves our children potentially vulnerable. The absence of such an important safeguarding measure puts us behind other jurisdictions where it has been successfully implemented and proven effective.
The implementation of Sarah’s Law would provide an additional layer of security for our children by allowing parents or guardians access to vital information about individuals who may pose a risk. This would enable them to make informed decisions about their child’s safety.
I urge you all - concerned parents, citizens and lawmakers alike - let us prioritize our children’s safety above all else. Let us bring about change that will protect them from harm now and into the future by implementing Sarah's Law here on island.
Please sign this petition today so we can take one step closer towards making isle of man safer for all its young residents.
