🚨 CALL TO ACTION: Help Make NE 33rd Ave Safer! 🚨
WHY:
We need your help to make NE 33rd Ave safer for everyone who walks, bikes, drives, or rolls. Right now, the stretch between NE Fremont and NE Shaver (Wilshire Park boundary) is dangerous and getting worse. We need more community voices to push the city to act.
WHAT:
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is tracking community reports to help prioritize safety projects. The more reports they get from us, the more likely this project will move forward.
We’re asking the Beaumont-Wilshire and Alameda Neighborhood Associations to endorse and support our cause and share this Action Alert in their newsletters and on social media to amplify community input.
🛑 THE ISSUE: Why We Need Action Now
- Excessive speeding
- Drivers failing to yield to pedestrians and cyclists
- Multiple reported crashes and flipped cars due to excessive speeding
- No traffic calming measures or protected crossings
✅ Potential Solutions PBOT is Considering:
- Speed cameras
- Flashing speed feedback signs
- Flashing Protected crossings
- YOUR suggestions!
- *We’ve been told speed bumps are less likely an option PBOT would consider due to the heavy use of NE 33rd by emergency vehicles. However, we are not opposed to raising the suggestion*
TL;DR
📣 HOW YOU CAN HELP RIGHT NOW:
