Hi all,

We are still looking for individual residents of all households who haven't signed this petition. Please spread the word to all your neighbours, visitors, and workers who may be visiting your properties to sign this petition as soon as possible. Without this support, pushing the council for changes is going to be so hard.

You will have recently received a letter from the council proposing to move the parking to generate more spaces to the opposite side of Canonmoor Street. This also allows driveways opposite to utilize parking wherever possible while generating more parking spaces. 

In our meetings, we have proposed the following points:

* The council lifted the 1-hour restriction in Shinwell and made it permit parking only at all times for residents only.

* Car parking spaces generated at the bottom of Canonmoor Street to generate more spaces for permit holder bays.

* Cones to be removed from Great Western court to allow disabled bays to utilise parking of the double yellow lines.

* Carers using the 1-hour time slots in Shinwell for parking should make an agreement with all care homes to park in the Henfford Gardens' generous-spaced car parks or Great Western Court, Richmond Club, Salvation Army, or The Courtyard.

Because this time slot leaves it open for anyone to park in our bays at any time during the day. It's bad enough we pay for our permits and do not have enough bays, and the football ground and courtyard visitors use our bays after 8 pm.

While

Ms. Polly Andrews expressed a strong belief that the 1-hour time slot was specifically intended for caregivers and designed to facilitate their visits to properties within the local vicinity. We suggested the above.

* To revisit the parking permit system and overhaul it, with the pointers we suggested.

Many more points were discussed, but for now we have addressed the main ones for immediate change. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Our meeting was a lengthy discussion. Polly Andrews was suggesting there wasn't much money in the pot to make such arrangements. However, we need the residents' push and more signatures from all those supporting this change for better parking in the area.
