I am a student and a victim of a vehicular accident at Kennesaw State University due to poor infrastructure. This occurred when the construction in the summit blocked off the public sidewalk, with no crosswalk as a safe alternative. Following my accident, the unnecessary barriers were removed and appropriate signage was put in place. Those signs should have been put there before anyone was hurt.

This incident highlights a significant issue: the lack of pedestrian consideration at KSU. There are several bus stops without nearby crosswalks, the worst offender being the stop at South Residential. Cars speed through Campus Loop Road, right past the bus stop. I have to cross that road every time I go into work, and I feel unsafe doing so.

There is an urgent need for KSU to implement more crosswalks and improve pedestrian safety measures on its campus. KSU needs to stop putting all it’s resources into ticketing students and make sure intersections are safe for students. We shouldn’t be paying to be in accidents.
