Implement More Breaks Between Exams at Delhi Public School Newtown

Implement More Breaks Between Exams at Delhi Public School Newtown
The Issue
As a witness to the ongoing struggle that students of classes 3 to 9 in Delhi Public School Newtown face, I am compelled to speak out. The intense schedule of back-to-back exams deprives our children of the essential rest they need, consequently causing heightened stress and negative impact on their overall health. Over time, I have observed students not just foregoing recreational activities, but also sleep - a vital necessity for their physical and mental well-being and long-term cognitive development. The present system of having exams on consecutive days puts tremendous pressure on students, leaving them no time to digest the day’s study, revise, or relax.
In a report by the National Sleep Foundation, it's shown that adequate sleep results in improved attention, behavior, learning, memory, emotional regulation, quality of life, and mental and physical health. Yet, too many of our students are sacrificing their sleep to keep up with the academic demands. With the weekend breaks not sufficing, it’s high time we rethink how we schedule these exams.
I plead earnestly to the concerned authorities to enforce more frequent breaks between exams. This will not only help students to better prepare for their tests but also regain the balance between their academic and personal life lost in the rigorous one-after-another exam structure currently in place. We need change, now more than ever. For the future of our children and the generation building the future of our society, I ask you to sign this petition to help lighten their load.
